Automotive Mechanic Intern - High School

This internship offers a chance to engage in a structured training program that focuses on the analytical, preventive maintenance, and repair tasks related to construction equipment, trucks, and automobiles with gasoline or diesel engines. You will collaborate with a Diesel Mechanic to enhance your skills, identify necessary repairs, learn repair and rebuild processes, and assist with or observe vehicle road tests. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and diagnose issues using various tools and equipment while ensuring a safe and clean work environment. Participation in routine field adjustments will help ensure safe operations and reduce wear, all while adhering to environmental protection standards. Throughout the internship, you will complete training assignments under the supervision of experienced staff, who will provide formal evaluations and suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of the training program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
• High School Internship beginning March 2026, through June 2026.
  • Senior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship would be available through the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Junior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship would go through the 2025-2026 school year, summer 2026, and 2026-2027 school year.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

• Must be 16 years of age or older as of today's date or expect to be by the time of hire.
• You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.

• Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's
  co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar school professional indicating you meet
  your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
• By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's
  Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be
  provided to the school upon an offer and acceptance of the position.
• Work Permit: Minors are required to submit their Work Permit upon an offer and acceptance of the position.
• Must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved vocational program that has provided preparation and training for the duties of this internship.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
