Position Overview An established public media organization is seeking an entry-level Archives Assistant to support an archivist with organizing and digitizing a large collection of legacy materials. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role ideal for someone looking for a "foot in the door" opportunity in media, archives, or public broadcasting. You'll play a key role in helping modernize archival systems by inventorying, logging, and preparing historical media assets for long-term preservation. Key Responsibilities * Inventory and organize boxes of physical media (primarily tapes) and digital files stored on hard drives * Log and track materials in a centralized database * Physically search for, retrieve, and verify archival items on-site * Gather, cross-reference, and validate information from multiple data sources * Perform repetitive administrative and data-entry tasks with accuracy and consistency * Maintain spreadsheets and records using Microsoft Excel and other office tools * Work independently once trained, while collaborating closely with the archivist Qualifications * Basic office and computer skills, including comfort working with spreadsheets * Ability to stay focused and engaged while performing repetitive administrative tasks * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills * Bright, curious, and willing to learn * Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR 97219. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
