About the Job

This role is responsible for supporting the shaping and evolution of Northwestern Mutual's Enterprise Portfolio Management practices and operations, driving new ways of working across the enterprise. This role incorporates strategic planning, operational and execution-oriented skillsets, strategic thinking, relational competencies, and adaptive skills to ensure alignment with the company's overarching strategy and achieve measurable progress.

This team member will be at the center of the changes to how Northwestern Mutual operates and will have direct impact on shaping the future of the company.

What You'll Do

Strategic Execution:

  • Support definition and articulate the strategic vision for the future ways of working including: Domains, practices, and operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and program objectives
  • Develop and lead initiatives that drive business transformation, articulating the 'How' and guiding strategic direction
  • Support the development of updates for leadership regarding the overall new ways of working program
  • Embrace a progress over perfection mindset to iteratively test and learn

Operational Excellence:

  • Assist in execution through development and oversight of operating rhythms, scorecards, and accountability mechanisms to sustain momentum
  • Operationalize new ways of working alongside teams, utilizing data-driven decision-making through metrics, KPIs, and insights to measure value, course-correct, and guide decisions
  • Implement best practices to improve the operating efficiency of the organization

Relational Competencies:

  • Manage cross-functional orchestration of stakeholders including business, technology, data, and finance, etc.
  • Support change management efforts and communicate progress across levels of the organization
  • Manage teams of professionals through vertical and horizontal relationships.

Adaptive Competencies:

  • Lead with and promote test-and-learn and iterative approaches
  • Support development of talent through coaching and fluency-building programs to build a bench of transformation-ready talent.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Minimum of 10 years' business, strategy, and/or transformation experience.
  • Preferred management consulting experience leading organization change efforts, blending strategy and execution
  • Highly independent self-starter with direct experience supporting other organizations through transformations
  • Previous experience building materials for C Suite (SLT) audiences
  • Experience in portfolio/project management, strategic/operational planning, and leading complex projects with organization-wide impact
  • Demonstrated cross-functional and stakeholder management capabilities across all levels
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity, leading change, and demonstrating exceptional business acumen
  • Ability to translate goals and strategies into executable business plans with strong integrity and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated learning agility
  • Strong organizational skills to handle competing demands and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic, and critical thinking skills to identify underlying issues and influence others
  • Facilitation and team-building skills, with people management experience preferred

Pay Range - End:

$234,000.00

Geographic Specific Pay Structure:

Structure 110:

$138,600.00 USD - $257,400.00 USD

Structure 115:

$144,900.00 USD - $269,100.00 USD
