Join our dedicated team as a Certified Nurse Assistant, providing compassionate care for our residents. This full-time position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. Candidates must hold a valid NYS Nursing Assistant Certification and BLS certification (AHA or RQI only). A minimum of one year of experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) is required, with at least one year of being licensed.


Complete Description

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Certified Nurse Assistant will perform both direct and indirect resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the certification. The role demands a demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care tailored to the age of the patients served. The candidate must understand the principles of growth and development across the life span and be capable of assessing data reflective of the patient's status. This includes interpreting the necessary information to identify each patient's needs relative to their age-specific requirements and delivering the care needed by adult and geriatric patient groups.


Job Functions

  • Ensure residents' Activities of Daily Living (ADL) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care. Complete documentation per protocol.
  • Maintain residents' environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care, including promptly answering call lights and alarms, using safety mats and low beds, following restraint use under Nursing direction, maintaining unit cleanliness, preventing behaviors and falls, and monitoring equipment for malfunctions. Complete documentation per protocol.
  • Meet residents' nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care, including meal delivery, tray preparation, use of adaptive equipment, feeding, and providing nourishments. Honor residents' preferences and choices. Complete documentation per protocol.
  • Address residents' rehabilitative needs as outlined in the plan of care, including range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices. Complete documentation per protocol.
  • Report residents' rights, refusals, and concerns to the Charge and/or Supervising Nurse promptly, following policies and procedures. Identify and report changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status to the Charge Nurse promptly.


Occupational Exposure

Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.


Skills and Experience

  • NYS Nursing Assistant Certification, BLS - Required, 1 Year of Experience
  • One (1) Year experience in LTC or CNA capacity - Required, 1 Year of Experience
