The Marketplace Enrollment Navigator is a member of the Enrollment & Financial Services and Outreach teams, responsible for screening/enrollment/advocacy and navigation of financial programs on behalf of patients, including, but not limited to OWCHC, State, Local, and Federal programs, specifically the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Marketplace Enrollment Navigator will conduct outreach and in-reach activities about the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid, and CHIP. They will assist patients and community members with understanding and completing the enrollment process through the Health Insurance Marketplace exchanges. The Navigator will also discuss treatment plans and costs with the patient and help create a payment plan that falls within the set policies of the billing office if necessary. The Navigator will work collaboratively with all office staff to ensure a well-executed financial plan is established for the patient.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform essential job duties as assigned.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to complete Medicaid training and agency orientation within the first 30 business days of hire.
  • Application Counselor Certification through the Health Insurance Marketplace required (if ability to complete within first 60 days of hire).
  • Medical office experience - experience in a finance department or equivalent education in a related field of study preferred.
  • A foundational understanding of health care billing, reimbursement, insurance, and/or accounting practices, with willingness to learn new insurance exchange practices.
  • Ability to work independently, organizing time, but committed to the team function with minimal supervision.
  • Possess high attention to details and organizational skills; the ability to establish and maintain appropriate filing system for the retrieval of needed information.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and backgrounds.
  • Ability to create innovative ideas and implement new ideas or processes.
  • High comfort level with computer programs, word processing, data management, and medical charts, or willingness to learn.
