Job Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The role includes performing all essential generic job functions as outlined below.
Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):
- Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Select and operate equipment as required for specific procedures.
- Restrict radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to prevent non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the patient.
- Perform portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Follow operational procedure to identify patient's films with name and x-ray number, and correctly mark film as to the side of the patient taken.
- Develop exposed x-ray film by processing methods available.
- Complete patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film.
- Maintain orderly x-ray room as directed by the head of the department.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physician in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.
- Perform administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, maintenance of records, reception of patients, and other administrative duties as required.
- Render services and/or assistance to all patients depending on the individual patient's needs and abilities in moving, turning, getting on and off the x-ray tables, etc.
- Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).

Education Requirement:
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of accredited school of Radiology Technology.
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.

- Must possess New Jersey State License.
- Applicant must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass such examination.
