Specialist Foodservice Sourcing

What will you be doing:

The Foodservice Sourcing Specialist provides support with both the sourcing process and the ongoing category management needed to support the supplier portfolio. On a regular basis, this position participates and contributes to process improvement initiatives, supplier performance management and other special projects of medium to high complexity that support the foodservice portfolio. This position primarily supports Premier's Foodservice Sourcing team, but it is also highly supplier-facing and owns several member-facing components, including our external website used to promote our portfolio of offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1 - 70%

Sourcing Core

  • Exposure to Sourcing process for medium to high complexity product categories

  • Masters category and contract analytics

  • Ability to negotiate simple Terms and Conditions as directed

  • Develops and recommends strategies for negotiations

  • Develops supplier spend and price impact analysis

  • Assists or leads the creation of RFPs

  • Manages supplier engagement

  • Creates PowerPoint presentations that provide succinct and informational messages

  • Validates the completeness of supplier's product and pricing files

  • Assists in the development of award recommendations

  • Assists in the creation of the final contract

  • Completes ad hoc reports related to sourcing and contract management

  • Exposed to and gains experience in sourcing multiple product categories

  • Enhances strategic supplier relationships

  • Experience and exposure to various peripheral sourcing teams

  • Manages supplier performance metrics and process.

Responsibility #2 - 15%

Project Management

  • Adheres to the milestones and cycle times outlined in product category workplan

  • Monitors progress of assigned tasks in product category workplan

  • Identifies and informs management of deviations from product category workplan and timeline and updates systems to reflect status accordingly

  • Identifies and communicates resource needs on a timely basis to the appropriate level

  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of own work

  • Identifies critical issues for risk management with clients and informs management of these critical issues

  • Participates in sourcing meetings to ensure a seamless integration throughout the sourcing process

  • Creates and maintains external/Supplier engagement process and ongoing management

  • Creates and maintains all sourcing and contract related materials for online platforms.

  • Leads or participates in special projects

Responsibility #3 - 15%

Learning and Development

  • Ownership of a project or program within team

  • Actively seeks opportunities to become familiar with the sourcing strategy, to increase knowledge of sourcing terminology and depth of product knowledge

  • Completes required curriculum work

  • Active participation in professional memberships and seeks certifications in areas such as CPSM, Lean, Six Sigma

  • Demonstrates integrity, innovation, accountability and ownership in work

  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and positive thinking

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 2 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Data analytics

  • Product sourcing

  • Project management

  • Proficiency in Excel

Experience:

  • Coursework in purchasing or supply chain, healthcare, logistics, materials management, finance, operations, project management, technology, business intelligence tools, leadership training

  • Active participation in professional memberships such as AHRMM, ACHE, ISM

  • Volunteer work in activities that advance the supply chain profession

Education:

Bachelor's degree

CMRP, CPSM, LPN, RN, CNA, SSGB

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $62,000 - $93,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
