Medical Assistant - Surgical Germantown, MD Pay From: $24 per hour MUST: The Surgical Medical Assistant must have experience: 3 plus years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a surgical setting Experience sterilizing instruments (preferred) BLS certification Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant Strong communication skills Experience working with Electronic Medical Records DUTIES: Working in pre-op and PACU to check patients in and prepare them for procedures Giving patients discharge instructions; as well as communicating with their families about follow-up care Sterilizing instruments and prepping trays for surgeries Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations, reviewing patient statuses and assisting in obtaining patient data required for procedures Support the practice by assisting the physicians, nurses and other personnel by obtaining vital signs, lab specimens (venipuncture, urine) and EKG's as needed Preparing specimens for the lab Foster efficient patient throughput, deliver excellent customer service, and establish and maintain an organized professional environment Assist the physician in treatments and procedures and ensure physician orders are completed in a timely manner Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers Participate in our supportive and team-oriented environment Prepare patients for surgeries and orient patient/family to the environment Assist with disinfecting exam rooms and other clinical work space between patient use Assist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site Assist in managing patient information, uploading CD images & making copies of pertinent exams Assist with patient rooming tasks (i.e., medical history, vital signs, pulse oximeter readings, height/weight, temperature, etc.) Assist with stocking exam rooms Ensure patient care areas are neat and presentable Additional responsibilities as directed Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
