FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS DESIGNER

Suppression Systems Inc. (SSI) is seeking a skilled Fire Protection Systems Designer to support the design and development of fire
protection, fire suppression, and fire alarm systems for commercial, industrial, and special hazard applications.

This role is responsible for preparing accurate and code-compliant system drawings, coordinating submittals, and supporting project
execution from design through closeout. The Designer works collaboratively with engineering, sales, project management, and field
teams to ensure system designs are technically sound, compliant, and buildable.

This position reports to the Construction Operations Manager and operates with increasing independence while maintaining
alignment with SSI standards and life-safety regulations.

Position Summary

* Prepare detailed drawings for fire protection, fire suppression, and fire alarm systems using AutoCAD.
* Develop layouts including:
o Detection and initiating device placement
o Notification appliance layouts
o Control and releasing panels
o Clean agent and special hazard suppression systems
o Riser diagrams and system schematics
o Sequence of operations documentation
* Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA standards (including NFPA 13, 72, 2001, and related codes) and Authority
Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
* Review project specifications and validate information necessary to produce accurate design documents.
* Coordinate and prepare submittal packages for AHJ and customer review.
* Maintain organized drawing files, databases, and revision controls.
* Provide drawing packages to installation, service, commissioning, and sales teams.
* Assist with design revisions during installation and commissioning phases.
* Utilize manufacturer-specific software for alarm system layouts and suppression system documentation.
* Stay current on fire protection codes, technology updates, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree in drafting, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of fire protection system design or drafting experience.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD.
* Working knowledge of NFPA codes applicable to fire alarm and suppression systems.
* Familiarity with AHJ submittal processes.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

* NICET certification (or actively pursuing) in Fire Alarm Systems or Special Hazard Systems.
* Experience designing clean agent or special hazard suppression systems.
* Familiarity with Factory Mutual (FM) standards.
* Experience with manufacturer alarm and releasing software platforms.
* Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
