Overview

Element is hiring a proactive and detail-oriented Physical Security & Safety Specialist to support the implementation and continuous improvement of site-level safety and physical security programs across our laboratory and facility operations. This hands-on role partners closely with Operations, Facilities, EHS leadership, and external security contractors to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant working environment for employees, customers, and visitors.

Focused on operational execution, regulatory compliance, contractor coordination, and risk mitigation, this position plays a critical role in protecting our people, laboratories, and assets while reinforcing a strong culture of safety and accountability within regulated environments. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in safety, EHS, physical security, or regulated industrial/laboratory settings and a commitment to continuous improvement and site excellence.

This is a hybrid role based in our Blue Ash location: 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.



Responsibilities

Physical Security Responsibilities
    Support day-to-day physical security operations including access control systems, badge management, visitor protocols, and CCTV monitoring
  • Coordinate with contracted security providers to ensure consistent guard coverage, site patrols, and adherence to post orders
  • Serve as site point of contact for physical security concerns, incidents, and response coordination
  • Assist with site security risk assessments and implementation of mitigation measures to safeguard personnel, laboratories, and company assets
  • Support compliance with applicable regulatory and customer security requirements, including ITAR and CMMC-related physical controls where applicable
  • Participate in security incident response, emergency drills, and crisis preparedness exercises
  • Contribute to business continuity planning and site-level emergency response readiness
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of security incidents, access audits, and corrective actions
Safety & Health Responsibilities
  • Support implementation and maintenance of site safety programs in alignment with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local regulations
  • Conduct and assist with workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses to identify and mitigate operational risks
  • Maintain safety documentation, KPIs, and reporting dashboards to support leadership visibility and compliance tracking
  • Assist in coordinating incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
  • Support safety training initiatives and ensure completion tracking across site personnel
  • Maintain safety data sheet (SDS) systems and related safety software platforms
  • Assist in development, review, and communication of safety procedures and emergency response plans
  • Monitor safety metrics and prepare site-level reports highlighting trends and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with site leadership to reinforce a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Security Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-4 years of experience in safety, EHS, physical security, facilities risk, or regulated industrial/laboratory environments
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general physical security best practices
  • Experience supporting access control systems, visitor management processes, or site security vendors preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with reporting tools or SharePoint a plus
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
  • Ability to remain calm and organized during incidents or emergency situations
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment
