Summary:
Presbyterian is seeking a detail oriented Accounts Receivable Follow Up Specialist who ensures timely and accurate reimbursement by managing correspondence, resolving claim inquiries, and reconciling daily account activities. The role supports efficient billing operations by following established guidelines, maintaining precise documentation, and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all billed charges. Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable followup for assigned work queues and outstanding claims.
- Contact insurance companies, patients, and employers to resolve unpaid or delayed claims.
- Provide required documentation such as medical records and itemized statements to support claim processing.
- Maintain timely followup on all open accounts and ensure accurate claim tracking.
- Identify payer issues and escalate them with supporting documentation.
- Partner with leadership on complex claims requiring additional direction.
- Document all account activity in accordance with organizational policies and compliance standards.
- Refer accounts for adjustments, collections, or legal review based on established guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members, participate in meetings, and maintain strong crossdepartment relationships.
- Uphold HIPAA, CMS, and organizational compliance while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Less than 1 year of healthcare clerical or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, problemsolving, verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, highvolume environment and adapt to changing payer regulations.
- Demonstrated teamwork, strong work ethic, and commitment to improving patient and community health.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred; ability to learn multiple billing and payer systems.
- Basic understanding of ICD10, HCPCS, CPT, revenue codes, UB04/HCFA1500 forms, and electronic claim transactions (837/835) preferred.
- Familiarity with coordination of benefits, Medicare MSPQ, and major payer submission requirements preferred.
- General knowledge of revenue cycle processes and claim workflows.
- Ability to maintain a HIPAAcompliant, confidential home workspace with reliable highspeed internet (minimum 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload).
