Description
The Sales Application Engineer plays a critical role within the Sales organization, serving as the technical and commercial bridge between customers, engineering, and production teams.

This role combines application engineering, thermal analysis, pricing strategy, and inside sales support. The ideal candidate will support revenue growth by preparing accurate thermal calculations, developing competitive pricing models, and delivering timely quotations for refrigeration and heat exchange systems.

This is not a product design role; it is a commercially focused engineering position embedded within Sales.

Pay: $85k
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer inquiries, drawings, and product specifications.
  • Perform thermal calculations and equipment sizing using in-house software and technical documentation.
  • Prepare and issue detailed customer quotations aligned with quarterly pricing updates and internal cost structures.
  • Develop and maintain advanced Excel-based costing models and pricing spreadsheets.
  • Provide rapid quotations for repeat customers and spot-buy opportunities to support timely sales execution.
  • Facilitate customer drawing approvals and manage specification changes or revisions.
  • Act as liaison between customers, engineering, and production to ensure technical accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Review samples and PPAP documentation prior to shipment to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Provide status updates during order processing stages and maintain proactive communication with customers.
  • Track open quotations, approvals, and sample shipments to support conversion and customer satisfaction.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quotation and costing process.
Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction with manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • Exposure to industrial environments and occasional plant floor activity.
  • May require standing, walking, or working in confined areas at times.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in application engineering, technical sales, HVAC/R, or thermal systems.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, costing models, data analysis).
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated commercial awareness and ability to balance technical accuracy with pricing competitiveness.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of working knowledge of heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, or industrial thermal equipment strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience with PPAP processes, quality checks, and customer approval workflows preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
