Your Opportunity

Manage casualty insurance (general liability, worker's compensation, auto liability, & pollution prevention) for vendors and contractors. Manage all safety and risk management software (E1 Safety & Health Module, Enterprise/CSS, and ISN). Manage contractor safety and qualification process (high risk-ISN; low risk/vendor-internal). Environment is customer service oriented, fast paced, and requires a willingness to learn new things. This position represents a key support element of the Corporate Safety and Health team and provides support to field personnel in the areas of reporting, recordkeeping, and contractor management.

Core Responsibilities
  • Considerable amount of communication and coordination to ensure contractors and vendors have the appropriate insurance levels, endorsements, and executed contracts.

  • Manage working relationships with our project managers, contractors and insurance agents to support the contractor management program.

  • Manage the volume of certificates of insurance (by email, mail, other internal sources).

  • Oversight of letters submitted monthly to all contractors/vendors as requested by the COI.

  • Appropriate review of our varied types of contractors/vendors, to make certain the request is appropriate.

  • Manage casualty insurance and contractor safety program

    • ISNetworld - coordinate with regions to ensure high hazard contractors are in the system

    • communicate insurance requirements directly to contractors & insurance agents

    • assist safety & project management personnel in setting up contractors

    • maintain corporate contractor database

    • research/determine business name for contractors

    • research & provide documentation for litigation.

  • Ability to work with extremely heavy workload in January/February for annual OSHA reporting.

  • Prepare reports, procedures and instructions on

    • OSHA 300 Logs

    • OSHA 300A

    • Employee Hours Worked Safety Reconciliation

    • Worker's Compensation Performance & Analysis (various)

    • Training presentations for various topics

    • Safety Performance Year over Year

  • Significant level of in-depth research required to provide appropriate data for broadly based requests.

  • Determines appropriate levels of insurance based on Smithfield guidelines and business necessity.

  • Determines contractor status for purposes of ISN (high vs low).

  • Determines need for new establishments from recordkeeping standpoint.

  • Able to communicate with

    • HPD Safety Managers

    • HPD Corporate Safety

    • Smithfield Corporate Safety

    • Smithfield Corporate Risk Management

    • Smithfield Legal

    • Insurance Agents (contractors, vendors, haulers)

    • Contractors/Vendors

    • ISN Account Representatives

    • Compliance Optimizers Account Representatives

    • HPD Project Manager

  • Some overnight travel required (1-3 weeks/year).

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years in Customer Service or Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.]

  • High level of end user level computer skills required.

    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)

  • 1-2 years' experience with casualty insurance preferred.

  • 1-2 years' experience in occupational safety/health (either General Industry or Construction) preferred.

  • High level of organizational ability.

  • High level of communication skills.

  • Effective critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, plan, prioritize and set goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Risk Management Coordinator.
