Job Summary:

Responsible for supporting environmental, health and safety related initiatives, training, continuous improvement, incident response and investigations, reporting, and worker's compensation throughout Certified Group (CG) Corporations Eastern Region.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Creation, revision, and implementation of CG Corporate EHS Policies, Procedures and Forms
  • Oversight management of all EHS processes within the Eastern Region including Canada with direct responsibility for the Greensboro, NC facility.
  • Agenda and Minutes of the Safety/Management Meetings
  • Maintain regular correspondence with the Corporate EHS Director
  • Maintain EHS related documentation
  • Prepare for, participate in and follow up on Corporate EHS Audits, as needed
  • Preparing Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Safety Review Reports, as needed
  • Contribute to pollution reduction, recycling and sustainability efforts
  • Develop regional EHS communications
  • Online database and Sharepoint management where needed.
  • Identify and administer programs and training to reinforce a culture of safety
  • Maintain applicable EHS scorecards
  • Review fleet telematics data for trends and develop action plans for improvement
  • Chemical safety and compliance- ensuring chemical inventories for all labs and inventory rooms are being conducted, tracked, analyzed, with annual waste stream analysis and waste mgmt. plan reviews.
  • Safe Driving Program - work with HR and facilities to maintain the driver's safety program. Validate drivers, pull MVR's, and coordinate Drivers Safety training.
  • Workers Compensation, assistance with:
  • Completion of incident investigation reports, database entry, and case management
  • Incident tracking and trend analysis
  • Annual 300A Summary reports
  • Required OSHA incident filings, as needed
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program including:
  • Review and evaluate of all PPE programs / requirements / usage / etc
  • Coordination of the Prescription Safety Eyewear process
  • Schedule, Coordinate, and ensure Emergency Drills are being conducted, including:
  • Semi-annual Fire Drills for all shifts and all buildings
  • Annual Power Outage Drill
  • Annual Severe Weather Drill
  • Active Shooter
  • Various other drills as needed.
  • Attendance at various Committee meetings, such as:
  • Health and Safety/Management Meetings (monthly)
  • Safety and Facility Meetings (as needed)
  • Executive call (weekly)
  • Operations (monthly)
  • Ensuring and possibly coordinating waste pick-ups, removal of chemicals, maintaining waste manifests, waste stream analysis, and annual waste summary reports, as needed.
  • Health & Safety Training
  • Ensure EHS training programs are being assigned, completed, and summary reports, as needed. This could include direct training administration, arranging for outside providers or managing online training portals.
  • Promote safe work practices and safety awareness through all levels
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED recognized by the Council for Education Accreditation (CEA) Required
  • College, technical institute diploma or University Degree (preferred)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (preferred)
  • Standard First Aid Training (preferred)
  • Familiar with the creation, administration and maintenance of EHS Programs within a laboratory environment
  • Familiar with the identification and control of laboratory and EHS related hazard
  • Experience in digital and physical recordkeeping
  • Experience with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Classification/Management (preferred)
  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour (preferred)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Corporate assignments / duties as assigned
  • Day and/or night shifts
  • Attending conferences / meetings / seminars
  • Use of safety equipment / PPE.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle to and from inspections.
  • Will require travel within the Region to include Canada (Ontario) 25 - 50% of time.
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens
