Shift:Part time for call coverage between Monday through Friday with some weekends and holidays. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Monitor the physiological condition of cardiac patients during such procedures as heart catheterization, temporary and permanent pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pump insertions, coronary angiography, angioplasties, streptokinase infusions, and electrophysiologic procedures. Calibrate and maintain equipment used in the conduction of tests and the processing of results while following departmental quality control guidelines. Use of sterile technique for setting up procedure, handing off supplies, and prepping the patient for the procedure. Calculate more complex cardiac parameters using data obtained from heart catheterizations, and IE shunt runs. Measure systolic, diastolic, and mean pressures from various locations in the heart and blood vessels. Draw ventricular silhouettes from angiograms to measure ventricular volumes and calculate the patient's ejection fraction. Provide hemodynamic monitoring during cardiac catheterization procedures and prepare reports for attending cardiologists to enable the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients. Participate in in-service education and outside educational programs. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates degree (or equivalent credit hours) in a health science area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. One (1) year of experience in invasive cardiovascular technology. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
