Full Pay Range: $23.40 - $38.75 hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

The Maricopa County Elections Department is looking for a customer-focused professional to support elections in our community. In this vital role, you'll deliver clear and accurate election-related information to voters and community members. You'll work closely with a dynamic team to ensure the public understands the voting process and feels confident participating.

We Require

  • Two years of constituent relations, public relations, communications, or journalism experience
  • Associate's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field
  • Postgraduate degrees or professional-level related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

  • Must be eligible to vote in Arizona by time of hire and complete the next scheduled Secretary of State Election Officer Certification
  • Must successfully complete a background screening
  • Overtime will be mandatory during all election cycles

  • Experience in an election administration environment

Job Contributions

  • Provide constituent correspondence and interact with customers to provide effective customer service
  • Provide specialized assistance in support of candidate services, campaign finance procedures, and precinct committeemen procedures
  • Resolve complex inquiries and complaints from the public or other government agencies
  • Assist with communication to campaign finance filers via email, social media, in-person, and virtual.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to work methods and procedures that increase efficiency
  • Create, update, and maintain spreadsheets and databases, which are compiled into reports to assist the organization in making data-driven decisions
  • Assist with voter outreach and communication efforts
  • Act as liaison regarding administrative issues related to operations, research, and program support

Working Conditions

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • Hybrid schedule options are available after a brief training period, based on business needs
  • Requires sitting, walking, or standing to a significant degree and repetitive use of hands for typing, filing, and handling documents
  • Exerting up to 20 lbs, occasionally, 10 lbs. of pushing, pulling, or lifting
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats, as there will be frequent engagement with the public in person, by phone, or electronically
  • Must not engage in any political discussion
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware:Microsoft Office/Teams, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva
