The multidisciplinary team is committed to serving the rare and complex testing needs of Duke Health patients by providing timely and accurate results, educating the next generation of laboratorians, scientists and physicians, and researching and developing the cutting-edge diagnostics of tomorrow. Clinical Technician III in the Molecular Diagnostics Lab at Duke University Hospital. Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., with no weekends or Duke-recognized holidays. This position is in the accessioning area and includes sample receiving, sample accessioning, filing of cases/run sheets/reports, and coordination of compiling/packing and shipping cases/run sheets/reports to off-site storage. There is also answering phone calls, questions from providers, and faxing of reports when appropriate. This position is eligible for a $2,500 commitment bonus. General Description Perform a variety of multi-skilled support functions including specimen collection, receipt and preparation of specimens for analysis, lead support tech; assist with workflow coordination in area; teach and perform routine clerical and technical processes required for the smooth operation of the laboratory unit; responsible for the delivery of supplies to correct location; serve as a liaison to internal and external customers. Job Duties
Education High School diploma or GED. For assignment to phlebotomy, completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation recommended. Experience Alternatively, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. At least 3 years experience as a Clin Tech II preferred plus achieve required competency level for specified job responsibilities. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification For assignment to Phlebotomy Services, certification as a phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency* may be required; certification of Basic Life Support preferred. National Healthcare Association (NHA) --Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomy Examination (CLPlb), American Society of Clinical Pathologists-- Phlebotomy Technician Examination [PBT(ASCP)], International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences (IAPS), National Phlebotomy Association (NPA), American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE), National Phlebotomy Solutions (NPS), or another national certification as approved by Clinical Labs leadership.
