Job Description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components in order to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products - including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few - AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites.



Job Purpose


Manage all purchasing and inventory control activities for assigned value streams to ensure manufactured products and material components are available when needed to satisfy customer requirements.



Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of savings projects, generation of supporting documents and follow through validation/tracking process.
  • Support RFQ activities such as in the development of agreements, legal/managements buyoff, tracking the sign off and implementation of supplier contracts on direct material.
  • Assist in developing strategies for working relationships that support supplier negotiations.
  • Take part in market assessments on raw material commodities to understand pricing opportunities and constraints.
  • Support new business development and proposal efforts - provide source selection, work with team on product/material selection, submit & manage quote activities to ensure competition, while supporting customer requirements and expedited deadlines.
  • Gather data on supplier performance, for the generation and distribution of monthly scorecards and action plans where performance criteria are not met and report results.
  • Assist in reporting on site supplier audits with AEC quality and customer representatives to measure compliance.
  • Support ASL management and control.
  • Provide MRP Support, monitoring material demands/purchasing activities to minimize inventories and protect customer requirements.
  • Work closely with Buyers and internal departments to effectively manage VMI, min/max items. The streamlining of activities associated with all subcontracting activities
  • Support lean practices and work within value streams to ensure zero part shortages and raw material safety stock levels.
  • Work with planning to reschedule material through exception message management.
  • Assist in the Implementation of weekly open purchase order reports to identify past due purchase order and look ahead report to identify potential late orders.
  • Support the evaluation of purchase variances, payment terms and overdue processes.
  • Assist with the schedule for quarterly review of supplier lead times and minimum lot sizes.
  • Support the reporting of PO statistical dates for a are a true measure of on time delivery.
  • Report on purchase orders that do not have confirmations within five (5) days.
  • Support the Process Return to Vendor MRs for discrepant material to ensure closeout and credit receipt.
  • Assist in resolving open purchase order issues with Accounts Payable.
  • Support new supplier set up. NDA's, supplier portal creation request and PIR/SL.
  • Support the government procurement processes/procedures and ensure compliance from the supply chain org.

Qualifications/Characteristics



  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, experience can be substituted.
  • 2-5 years experience in supply chain management- preferably in a just-in-time or lean manufacturing environment, including direct procurement experience related to supply chain and commodity management, and including exposure to strategic sourcing methodology and processes.
  • Government contracting is a plus
  • Lean experience for procurement is a plus
  • SAP is Highly preferred, other ERP and MRP experience will also be considered
  • APICS, CPM or other related certifications preferred.
