GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director, Eyecare (Surgical Operations) leads a team of experts focused on delivering field execution and surgical excellence across LensCrafters and affiliated practices. This role supports the activation and day-to-day success of surgical sites, partners closely with store and field leaders to implement best practices, and serves as a field-facing subject matter expert for ophthalmic surgery. The Director collaborates with surgeons, Legal, and the managed services organization to support contracting needs and ensure compliant operations. The role drives in-practice adoption, provides hands-on training, and supports all brands with new surgical subject matter.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead and coach a team of Surgical MSEs delivering field training, OD guidance, and in-office activation of surgical services.
  • Execute surgical service initiatives across markets, ensuring consistent rollout and compliance with established clinical standards.
  • Support practice readiness assessments and lead on-site implementation of surgical workflows, patient pathways, and documentation requirements.
  • Partner with store teams and field leadership on best practices for patient conversations, surgical referrals, scheduling coordination, and workflow optimization.
  • Provide hands-on, "boots-on-the-ground" training for surgical technology, office processes, and operational expectations.
  • Support the setup and activation of new surgical sites and transition them to designated partners once stable.
  • Collaborate with Legal and the managed services organization to support MD contracting activities and maintain positive surgeon relationships.
  • Deliver new surgical subject matter to brand, field, and store partners, ensuring consistent communication and adoption.
  • Conduct field quality checks, documentation reviews, and workflow observations to support surgical performance and compliance.
  • Maintain vendor relationships on behalf of EssilorLuxottica to evaluate equipment, gather field feedback, and support pricing opportunities for affiliated practices.
  • Provide operational insights and practice-level feedback that helps improve surgical programs and refine future activations.
  • Influence local surgical performance through OD engagement, field coaching, and practice-level support.


BASIC QUALIFICIATIONS

Doctor of Optometry (OD)



  • 7-10 years related experience, including clinical patient care
  • Experience in optometric practice operations and ophthalmic surgery environments
  • Prior leadership or people-management experience
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, field-driven environment with frequent travel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple field initiatives and maintain strong follow-through
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
