GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director, Eye Care (Medical Operations) supports the delivery and expansion of medical eye care services across Luxottica Retail North America and LensCrafters by leading a team of doctor medical experts focused on field execution, adoption, and training. This role helps translate enterprise medical strategy into action at the practice level, ensuring ODs can confidently perform medical procedures, follow clinical standards, and implement compliant medical billing workflows. The Director partners closely with Field Leadership, Learning & Development, Stores, and Clinical partners to activate medical programs and resolve practice-level barriers.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead, coach, and support a team of Medical Operations (SMEs) who work directly with ODs and field teams to implement medical services, workflows, and clinical protocols.
  • Execute medical operations initiatives in the field, ensuring consistent rollout, adoption, and follow-through across directly managed and affiliated practices.
  • Partner with Field Leadership to activate medical services market-by-market, troubleshoot OD concerns, and remove barriers to adoption.
  • Provide hands-on support in practices for medical procedure implementation, instrumentation use, documentation standards, and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to create, refine, and deliver training materials on medical procedures, billing, technology, and clinical documentation.
  • Support clinical standards by assisting with chart audits, documentation reviews, and quality-improvement feedback loops.
  • Guide stores and clinical partners on how to facilitate medical conversations with patients and improve understanding and conversion.
  • Serve as a resource for medical billing best practices, coding accuracy, documentation requirements, and problem resolution.
  • Support the rollout of new equipment, diagnostics, and medical technology through field pilots and MSE-led implementation.
  • Maintain vendor relationships on behalf of EssilorLuxottica to support technology assessments and equipment access for affiliated ODs.
  • Contribute to business performance through effective field execution, OD engagement, and improved medical services utilization.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Doctor of Optometry (OD)
  • 10 years of related experience, including clinical care
  • Experience in optometric practice operations or practice management
  • Prior leadership experience (people leadership or matrix leadership)
  • Working knowledge of medical billing, coding, and documentation
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills
  • Ability to execute in a fast-paced, field-driven environment with frequent travel
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel 50%+
