Reimagine What's Possible

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading all maintenance activities at the Air Products Texas City, TX facility, including the development and execution of maintenance programs, processes, and strategies designed to improve equipment integrity and plant reliability at the lowest sustainable cost.

The facility includes a large Steam Methane Reformer hydrogen plant, an Air Separation Unit nitrogen plant, an Ammonia production plant, associated pipelines, steam turbine power generation, and supporting utilities. It is connected to the Air Products Gulf Coast Hydrogen Pipeline system and external providers for natural gas, water, and electrical power. The Ammonia assets are owned by Gulf Coast Ammonia and are operated and maintained by Air Products as part of the integrated facility.

The Maintenance Superintendent leads a team that includes Maintenance Supervisors, Planners, Technicians, Materials Management, and administrative support personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Facility Maintenance Team to ensure work is performed safely, costeffectively, and in compliance with safety and environmental requirements
  • Drive equipment reliability by monitoring asset health and preventing unplanned outages
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop asset strategies, manage capital investments, and control maintenance costs
  • Support turnaround and shutdown planning and execution, including scope development and onsite leadership
  • Coordinate with project engineering and the maintenance team on scope planning and execution timing for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Working with the appropriate stakeholders, develop and execute short and long-range planning of essential programs, shutdowns, and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with Preventive Maintenance, Mechanical Integrity, and maintenance procedures
  • Manage vendors and contractors to execute planned and unplanned work safely, efficiently, and costeffectively
  • Coordinate with the appropriate stakeholders, establish accurate maintenance budgets and forecasts, and ensure work is completed within available budgets
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure all Company policies, rules, and guidelines are followed and administered in a fair and consistent manner.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree related to process plant operations or maintenance preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience in process facilities
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience leading plant maintenance teams
  • Effectively adjusts to changing responsibilities, priorities, and work environments
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in process safety programs including mechanical integrity, incident investigations (RCA), management of change (MOC), procedure development, and emergency response.
  • Demonstrated capability in successfully leading change management and implementing programs/initiatives.
  • Builds strong customer relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and strong business acumen.
  • Knowledge and experience of preventative maintenance systems (e.g., SAP or MAXIMO), planning, and cost management.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to wear required PPE and physically perform all assigned responsibilities
