North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.
4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States, operating as a non-formal, hands-on educational program for ages 5-18. With a focus on "learning by doing," it uses research-backed, university-led Cooperative Extension programs to teach leadership, civic engagement, and life skills through projects in agriculture,
STEM, and healthy living.

| Other Work/Responsibilities |
Additional responsibilities include assisting with the planning and delivery of countywide 4-H programs in collaboration with other 4-H staff and Extension personnel at the Brunswick County Center. Programs may include, camps, special interest programs, community outreach events, and 4- H clubs, all designed to engage youth and provide meaningful learning experiences. This position also involves recruiting, training, and supporting community volunteers and program leaders to expand and sustain 4-H outreach throughout Brunswick County. Occasional overnight travel, evening, and weekend work may be required.
1. Plan, implement, and evaluate school enrichment programs for youth ages 5-18 using research-based curriculum.
2. Assist with planning and delivering 4-H programs, special events, camps, club meetings, and community outreach initiatives.
3. Support the 4-H Agent in expanding 4-H programs through multiple delivery methods and audiences.
4. Recruit, train, and support youth, adult volunteers, community leaders, and local businesses to participate in programs and events.
5. Create digital and print marketing materials, including content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and printed materials.
6. Attend local, district, and state program activities and events on behalf of the County Extension Agent.
7. Collaborate with community organizations to meet the needs of local citizens and support 4-H clubs in program delivery.
8. Assist in managing financial and in-kind resources, including fee collection, record keeping, and reporting.
9. Participate in training sessions to stay current on youth development research, 4-H programming, risk management, and program policies and procedures.
10. Ensure compliance with safety standards, maintain accurate databases, and evaluate program outcomes.
11. Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overnight events, and perform other duties as assigned. |

| Minimum Experience/Education |
The minimum requirement for employment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (
NCCE) is a high-school diploma or equivalent. Advanced training in related fields is preferred. |

| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
One to three years of experience working with youth programming, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduation from a two-year college or vocational/technical school with course emphasis in human relations and/or youth development or other relevant subject matters is preferred.
1. Experience in working with individuals, groups, and co-workers to accomplish goals
2. Experience in Google Suites, Canva, and Microsoft.
3. Experience in working with volunteers and youth ages 5-18.
4. Experience in coordinating events and educational activities.
5. Skill in planning a variety of educational programs for the target audiences.
6. Ability to work with broad audiences. |
