Tools of the Trade

• 4 years of experience operating metal-cutting saws (DoAll).
• Ability to measure accurately using standard tools (tape measure, calipers).
• Understanding of material types (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel).
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on feet for extended periods.
• Basic math skills for conversions, tolerances, and stack cuts.

Your Role on the Floor

• Operate DoAll or similar metal-cutting band saws to cut ATR and round bar stock.
• Set blade speed, feed rate, vise position, and coolant flow according to material type and diameter.
• Select appropriate saw blades based on material hardness, diameter, and production volume.
• Adjust machine settings to maintain straight, clean, accurate cuts.
• Measure raw material and cut pieces using tape measures, calipers, squares, and stop blocks.
• Bundle, tag, and stage completed cuts for the next process (forging, threading, machining).
• Verify cut lengths within tolerance according to work orders or blueprints.
• Ensure threads on ATR are not damaged during clamping, cutting, or handling.
• Inspect saw blades for wear, cracks, or poor cutting performance.
• Change blades, adjust guides, and recalibrate stops as needed.
• Keep coolant clean, filled, and flowing correctly.
• Keep saw and surrounding area clean, free of scrap, and organized.
• Follow all company and OSHA safety guidelines for saw operation.
• Use required PPE: safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toed boots.
• Maintain awareness of pinch points, blade path, and moving parts.
• Follow safe handling practices for long bars and threaded rod.
• Participate in lockout/tagout procedures when required.
