Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Computing Consultant for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station ( NJAES).

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Manages computational research computing resources for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) and the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES).
  • Provides consultative services to faculty to meet their computational needs in areas of bioinformatics, including modeling and data acquisition and processing from scientific instrumentation.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends specialized hardware and software products and performs research computing research planning.
  • Provides advanced technical research support, including scientific consulting, to faculty, post-doctorates, graduate students, and undergraduates and develops complex scientific applications.
  • Prepares documentation for end users.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience with computational systems administration.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with the most recent bioinformatics software.
  • Oral and written communications must be at a high level.
  • Experience with multiple versions of Linux and Windows operating systems, building and managing websites, and installing complex software is necessary.
