At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

The Senior Psychometrician assists other Psychometricians in providing services to the Program Development Department. This individual acts in a support role within the department, helping to provide expertise in the measurement and design of assessments. The Senior Psychometrician helps to ensure the accuracy and validity of assessments and gathers data that is instrumental to improving students' performance at WGU.

The Senior Psychometrician helps to ensure the accuracy and validity of assessments and gathers data that is instrumental to improving students' performance at WGU.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Analyzes data from various types of assessments using a variety of statistical methods.
Under the guidance of more senior psychometricians, performs statistical analyses required for score reporting and data interpretation.
Under the guidance of more senior psychometricians, performs data analyses such as item analyses and reliability analyses.
Under the guidance of more senior psychometricians, creates graphs, charts, tables, and dashboards based on statistical analyses.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to produce analyses quickly.
Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and capacity or experience with SAS, R, or other analytical or statistical packages.
Experience with Tableau or Power BI for data visualization.
Experience retrieving and manipulating data from databases using SQL, R, or Python.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Psychometrics, Psychological Measurement, Educational Psychology, or related field (e.g., Industrial/Organization Psychology) with an emphasis on quantitative methods or psychometrics
One (1) year of experience in testing, research, or closely related fields such as statistics and data analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in Higher Education

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed. Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
