We're looking for a dedicated, proactive, and collaborative Safety Specialist to join us. This is your chance to be part of a team that values innovation, continual improvement, and community service. Responsibilities:
- Conduct workplace inspections for safe work environment and report findings.
- Continually assist with improving existing safety and health processes, programs, training, and their effective implementation.
- Monitor facilities and processes for compliance and interpret and implement applicable occupational health and safety regulations and guidelines as published by OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, ACGIH, etc.
- Develop SOPs as needed to provide procedures for tasks conducted, to include creating spreadsheets for data tracking purposes.
- Develop and implement safety trainings under direction of the OHS Manager and in collaboration with the Occupational Training team.
- Assist with review and development of safety and health programs for alignment with regulations, standards, and codes.
- Maintain current knowledge on existing and pending legislation related to occupational health and safety policies and procedures, and be informed on industry trends and innovations.
- Work collaboratively with FM personnel to come up with feasible abatement for health and safety hazards.
- Act as a resource during toolbox talks and during and after safety committee meetings.
- Attend and participate in health and safety training sessions and education opportunities as required by the OHS Manager.
- Track and manage data to support health and safety insights and communicate findings to various FM stakeholders.
- Lead and assist with incident investigations to determine causes and identify preventive measures while fostering a positive and supportive approach.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in environmental science-related fields. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- A valid driver's license with a zero or positive points balance and at least 2 years of driving history.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in occupational safety and health.
- Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections and identify unsafe work practices or conditions and make recommendations.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform duties while wearing required respiratory equipment (must pass required medical exam); must be able to crawl, bend, climb ladders, lift approximately 40 lbs. Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience. Position Type & Work Location
