General Information:

The Office of the Registrar at James Madison University is seeking applications for the full-time position of Veteran Benefits Specialist. This is an in-person, 40-hour per week, employment opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Veteran Benefits Specialist will manage multiple educational benefits programs available to qualifying veterans and/or their dependents while ensuring compliance under applicable institutional, state, and national regulations and laws.

Qualifications:

Required:
1) Demonstrate the ability to successfully interpret and apply complex institutional, state, and national regulations and laws; and
2) Have outstanding, proven customer service experience; and
3) Have outstanding, proven attention to detail; and,
4) Already be a School Certifying Official, or be willing to undergo training to become an approved School Certifying Official shortly after employment.

Additional Considerations:
1) Experience in a higher education setting; and,
2) Functional knowledge of student administration systems, preferably PeopleSoft
