Position Summary


To coordinate and manage all aspects of environmental, health and safety (EHS) management across the global division to successfully meet or exceed enterprise and business unit goals.

The position has a dotted line relationship with the Global EHS Director for EMG
This position has direct and indirect reports at the 14 Global Manufacturing Sites in 3 countries

This position requires significant flexibility to accommodate frequent travel both domestically and internationally

This position has responsibility for the safety of over 4000 Team Members in the Global Division

Responsibilities


Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and executes global EHS programs and procedures cascaded from Corporate or Group
  • Develops and leads global division EHS programs to achieve EHS objectives and targets with an emphasis on Safety and Accident Prevention, EHS Regulatory Compliance and Resource Conservation.
  • Leads and executes applicable EHS management systems which include ISO 14001 certification and any other applicable EHS management system certifications or elements.
  • Responsible for EHS reporting which includes performance against targets and goals, regulatory reporting, and corporate, business unit and customer required reporting. These reports may be written or in presentation format directly to the Group President
  • Develops and implements division wide EHS training programs.
  • Manages an EHS corrective action program which includes EHS audits, regulatory inspections, industrial accidents, customer EHS audits and other assessments that identify EHS issues that require corrective action except for environmental remediation of property.
  • Manages a resource conservation and sustainability program which includes but not be limited to energy use, water use, and waste generated from production.
  • Leads an EHS program for change which includes new processes, equipment, materials and people.
  • Manages or supports, as directed, for acquisitions, divestitures, facility closure and environmental remediation of property.
  • Actively works with other functional leaders for integration of EHS into Lean, Quality, Supply Chain, HR, Sales, Service and Innovation at a division level.
  • Leverages existing systems and procedures in those functional areas to the extent possible in EHS management.
  • Leads by example to develop an EHS culture of excellence for safety and environmental management through effective communication.
  • Manages the EHS aspects and programs of contractors that do work on site.
  • Supports the development and execution of EHS strategy for the business unit.
  • Lead incident investigations and prepare reports for the Group President

  • Must have good skills in leading and influencing change and be an agent of change management in multicultural environments in sites in the USA, Mexico and Asia.

  • Must be competent in developing a strategic plan.

  • A solid working knowledge of EHS regulations

  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and able to influence people at all levels.

  • Must be able to comprehend and interpret applicable EHS requirements and translate them into the business language for clear understanding by the business unit leaders and employees.

  • Must be able to learn and understand the business.

  • Must have strong process skills for standardization, continuous improvement and program management.

  • Must have a passion for EHS and able to translate into practical action.

  • Must have good problem-solving skills and experience.

  • Must be able to work independently.

Work Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial work environment with EHS responsibilities, or other applicable EHS experience.

  • Experience in leading safety programs in an industrial setting.

  • Experience managing people and programs in a multi-site environment

  • Experience with resource conservation management/ sustainability programs

  • Experience leading industrial hygiene programs

  • Experience with heavy industrial equipment

Preferred

  • Experience in the environmentally hazardous waste management industry.

  • International Management Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in EHS, Engineering, science or other relevant technical fields.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in safety sciences, Engineering or other related fields

Certifications

Preferred

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist or other professional safety certification
