Involves patient care services for a range of mental health disorders, often severe including major depressive disorders, paranoia, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder. Settings may be inpatient, outpatient or clinical research studies. Patient care may be provided by a combination of licensed clinicians, as well as counselors and crisis intervention specialists. Patients typically require routine assistance, treatment or a specialized and controlled environment. Primary emphasis on treatment and attempt where possible to help patients control their own lives in the outside world, with the use of a combination of psychiatric drugs and psychotherapy. This clinician has autonomous professional responsibility for 5150 evaluations, emergency behavioral health assessments, level of care determination, and interventions with patients and families. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
