The BCH Oakland Hospital Supervisor/Clinical Resource Nurse is recognized as an administrative leader and clinical resource who continually seeks to improve patient care delivery through problem solving on a broad level. Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a leader of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams, and facilitates critical thinking of staff in carrying out established nursing procedures and addressing patient care issues. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care. Demonstrates investment in the overall goals of the inpatient units and the organization. Provides nursing care to critical care patients and assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
Required Qualifications
5 years of full-time acute inpatient Pediatric RNexperience in an academic medical centerBSNDemonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit.In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies.Provides input to decision-makers on human resources matters.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner.Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.Demonstrated effectiveness in the charge nurse role and/or through mentoring/staff development or committee work.Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position


Preferred Qualifications
2-5 years of inpatient House Supervisor experienceKnowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and performance, and to provide input to decision-making on human resources matters.Master's Degree

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of full-time acute inpatient Pediatric RN experience in an academic medical center
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise clinicians and manage complex workflows and multiple priorities within a patient care unit
  • In-depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards, care delivery systems, external regulations, and internal policies
  • Ability to provide input on human resources matters and support decision-making processes
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess problems, determine appropriate interventions, and implement effective solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of staff, management, consultants, and external agencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to mentor staff and clearly present complex clinical and technical information
  • Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals
  • Knowledge of business software, specialized applications, and data management systems used in nursing units or departments
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a charge nurse role and/or through mentoring, staff development, or committee participation
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Licensure and Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of inpatient House Supervisor experience
  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management practices, including training, monitoring, evaluation, documentation, and participation in HR-related decision-making
  • Master's degree in Nursing
