Overview

Summary

The Customer Reference Specialist is responsible for managing and executing C1's customer reference program operations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for internal reference requests, ensuring timely and high-quality customer matches that support sales opportunities, proposals, and marketing initiatives. This role owns the customer reference database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information on customer reference ability, preferences, and engagement. The Specialist works closely with sales, proposals, and marketing teams to fulfill requests, identify gaps, and continuously improve the effectiveness of the reference program.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions

    Manages and maintains the customer reference database, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and usability
  • Fulfills incoming reference requests from sales, proposals, and other internal teams in a timely manner
  • Matches appropriate customer references to opportunities based on industry, use case, product, and customer preferences
  • Tracks and reports on reference request activity, utilization, and program performance
  • Partners with sales and account teams to identify potential new reference customers and expand the database
  • Maintains customer reference profiles, including permissions, participation history, and areas of expertise
  • Ensures compliance with customer preferences and approval processes for all reference activities
  • Coordinates logistics for reference calls, written references, and other customer engagements as needed
  • Identifies gaps in reference coverage (e.g., industry, solution, region) and communicate needs to sales
  • Supports continuous improvement of tools, processes, and workflows related to the reference program


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-4 years of experience in marketing, sales support, customer success, or operations role
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales and/or proposal teams
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and process consistency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in CRM or database tools and Microsoft Office

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a customer reference or advocacy program
  • Familiarity with proposal or RFP processes
  • Experience with reference management tools or platforms (e.g. Responsive)

Pay Range

$60,000 - $80,000

Base pay ranges are estimated. Actual base pay will be based on education, experience, location, certifications, skill set, and any other relevant factors. Incentive/variable pay opportunities are in addition to base pay.
