About the Position:

Utilizing independent judgement, the Supply Chain Engineer is responsible for optimizing the flow of materials, services, and information to maximize efficiency in downstream supply chain.

What You'll Do:



  1. Continuously analyze and anticipate supply chain constraints and effectively implement improvements and solutions
  2. Evaluate and select outside service suppliers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and reliability
  3. Support initiatives that positively affect cost reductions, shortening the order entry process, minimizing order entry and routing errors, reducing lead times, and increasing customer satisfaction
  4. Supports the Sales Department in the development of new market opportunities by identifying and establishing new supply chain solutions in order to expand the company's product offering
  5. Conduct customer contract reviews and optimize job routings to meet requirements
  6. Review new purchase orders and issue manufacturing promise dates
  7. Prioritize internal work centers as needed to meet customer due dates
  8. Support the Sales Department with quoting opportunities that require outside processing
  9. Track due date performance of vendors
  10. Create Purchase Orders and make route changes for outside processing, as necessary.
  11. Understands how ERP systems relate purchasing, inventory, and compliance including those of our vendors and customers; advocate opportunities for improvement, establish recommendations and implement changes with approval
  12. Interact with Sales Department, Production, Metallurgy, Raw Materials and Purchasing, to efficiently process orders to meet customer expectations.
  13. Assist with the development of tools to maintain visibility of work in process status and accurately monitor capacity as compared to the shop load.
  14. Travel as required for vendor and supplier visits.
  15. Participates actively in following and promoting the company's values, mission, and safety culture.
  16. Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude at all times.
  17. Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company, including plant safety regulations and work rules.
  18. Must have the ability and desire to work well with others.
  19. Meets attendance requirements.
  20. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.


What You'll Need:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years prior industrial supply chain/planning/production/sales experience, experience in steel or heavy metals industry preferred.
  • Highly organized, proactive and results driven with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Strong communicator/ listener with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self -confident and have a positive attitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
  • Experienced with using ERP and/or CRM systems
  • Required to have an active and valid driver's license, or the ability to travel and commute as required, and comply with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.
  • Strong Work Ethic
