The Role

The Mission Critical Center of Excellence manages billions of dollars in projects annually, specializing in data center and mission-critical construction for leading technology and telecommunications clients across the United States. Focused on fast-paced, MEP-intensive projects, the group is recognized for delivering complex solutions while offering significant opportunities for career advancement within the thriving mission-critical construction industry.

The Senior Commissioning Manager is responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and documentation of MEP assets and systems throughout the entire project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of building MEP systems, excellent leadership skills, and a strong commitment to ensuring project success. This role partners closely with project teams, contractors, and owners to ensure systems are delivered safely, reliably, and in full compliance with missioncritical performance requirements. The Senior Commissioning Manager also plays a key role in driving commissioning strategies that support schedule certainty, risk mitigation, and operational readiness at turnover.


Responsibilities

    Lead and document day-to-day commissioning activities in compliance with OSHA and Suffolk safety standards
  • Direct field personnel and subcontractors in accordance with project plans and Suffolk supervisory principles
  • Manage commissioning activities for MEP systems, including system testing, DDC integration, and performance validation
  • Review drawings and specifications; troubleshoot and resolve technical and installation issues
  • Communicate daily progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager and escalate items as needed
  • Develop, maintain, and update startup and baseline schedules; provide monthly updates and two-week look-ahead reports
  • Implement quality control processes, benchmarks, and inspections to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Enforce safety programs, conduct site inspections, and ensure subcontractor safety compliance and documentation
  • Coordinate with the Project Executive, General Superintendent, and Project Manager on sequencing, staffing, and pre-mobilization activities
  • Manage subcontractor performance, jobsite documentation, reporting, and material quality
  • Maintain required reports, logs, drawings, and as-built documentation to Suffolk standards
  • Participate in project coordination, safety, scheduling, owner, and closeout meetings
  • Lead subcontractor closeout, punch list completion, and owner training activities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline and/or experience relative to specific discipline
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in MEP installation, commissioning and maintenance
  • Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems including associated building automation systems
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems
  • Thorough knowledge of building information modeling (BIM) and its use in coordination of the Mechanical and Electrical systems and other project systems
  • The ability to manage and embrace change. Respond and adapt to new processes and new ways of looking at old problems
