Overview The Steam & Gas Engineering Department is seeking a motivated, results-driven professional to join its management team as an Estimator, Specialist (1H). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and the organizations Rules We Live By, while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, supported by strong organizational, leadership, teamwork, communication, and decision-making skills. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, resourceful, and articulate, with a proactive "can-do" mindset, a strong sense of accountability, and a clear understanding of how to anticipate and meet customer needs. This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, authorization and appropriation cost estimates for multidiscipline construction projects of commercial building, generation, substation and/or transmission facilities.
- Develop estimates based on preliminary work scopes, drawings and sketches, and site conditions, while relying on professional experience to fill in missing information.
- Rely on construction expertise to determine means & methods and inform the project schedule.
- Reference historical data and cost libraries to determine costs for specific activities and resources.
- Contribute to the development of project work scopes during estimate preparation to ensure project constructability and lower costs.
- Evaluate alternative designs and contribute to the optimum design selection.
- Meet with engineering, construction and the user organizations to ensure all aspects of the project have been incorporated in the estimate.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- Minimum two years of applicable experience in engineering, design, and/or construction of commercial building, substations or electric transmission facilities, or related experience, required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with people on all levels, required.
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), HeavyBid and/or similar estimating software program, required.
- Demonstrate a high energy level, be well organized, and have the ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities, required.
- Experience in developing electrical, mechanical and/or civil cost estimates for construction projects at substations and/or electric transmission facilities, and/or familiarity with Recommended Practices from the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
