The goal is to significantly improve CLiME's reputation as a premier research institution at Rutgers University-Newark. The Communication Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and delivering clear, consistent, and engaging internal and external communications. This role supports brand awareness, stakeholder engagement, and organizational objectives through strategic messaging across multiple channels.
This position is responsible for the following, and not limited to:
- Develop and implement communication strategies aligned with the goals of CLiME
- Create, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, websites, social media, press releases, speeches, and reports
- Maintain brand voice and messaging consistency across all communication platforms
- Collaborate with marketing, leadership, and other departments on campaigns and initiatives
- Monitor communication performance and prepare reports and recommendations

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Also requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience in an administrative and/or supervisory function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
- OR -
Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in the discipline. A master's degree in a specialized discipline may be required, particularly in research, project management or managerial positions. Also requires a minimum of five years experience and/or increasing functional responsibility in a leadership/managerial role. With a master's degree requirement, a minimum of three years of related experience is acceptable. Excellent communication skills and computer literacy. |

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
