The Gas Trading Leader serves as a senior leader within the Supply & Trading team, responsible for both actively trading commodities and leading a team of traders. This role blends hands-on market participation with strategic leadership, ensuring the trading organization delivers strong risk-adjusted returns while developing talent and expanding the business. Reporting to the Supply & Trading (S&T) Leader, this position maintains direct ownership of trading activity and P&L while serving as the primary mentor, decision-maker, and culture carrier for the trading team.

Your Role, Your Impact

  • Maintain direct responsibility for trading activity, P&L responsibility- day to day and month to month budgets
  • Risk allocation Actively manage one or more trading books with full P&L accountability.
  • Ensure adherence/compliance to risk standards and trading rules in conjunction with the Risk department
  • Responsible for internal and external growth of all trading businesses
  • Work closely with S&T Operations group
  • Understand and support growth and day-to-day needs of Fuels Marketing group.
  • Understand and support growth and day-to-day needs of exchange sales and bunker sales
  • Lead by example through disciplined execution, risk awareness, and commercial judgment
  • Understand and support the growth and day to day needs of exchange sales and bunker sales
  • Oversee risk management strategies related to supply chain disruptions, commodity price fluctuations, and trading exposures.
  • Implement hedging strategies where appliable.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development: Oversee, coach, and mentor traders and junior traders while remaining actively engaged in trading.
  • Provide real-time guidance on position sizing, timing, and risk management. Review all trading positions and exposures across the team, offering challenge and direction as needed.
  • Develop trader capability through daily interaction, deal review, and market discussion.
  • Build a high-performance trading culture focused on accountability, learning, and ethical conduct.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of physical and financial commodities markets.
  • Proven expertise in trading strategy, risk management, and hedging.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder influence skills.
  • High level of commercial acumen and financial discipline.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.
  • Bachelor's Degree business, finance, economics, or related field preferred
Pay Range $258,100.00 - $413,100.00

The pay range for this position is outlined above. The final amount offered at the start of employment is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience level, knowledge, skills, abilities and geographic location, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
