Job Summary

The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the trauma program in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director. This role ensures the delivery of optimal trauma care through coordination of interdisciplinary services, performance improvement, trauma registry management, staff education, injury prevention, and administrative functions. The TPM is responsible for program development, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement aligned with ACS Level II Trauma Center standards. The TPM serves as a key liaison between trauma services and hospital leadership, advocating for necessary resources and fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration across the trauma continuum. Demonstrates ongoing growth and development of self through active self-reflection, personal competency development strategies, and role modeling the "Grow myself, grow my team, and grow Monument Health (G3) Leadership Competencies" to promote our Monument Health vision and mission.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Leadership & Strategic Oversight: Provides leadership and direction for the trauma program in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director. Develops and implements strategic initiatives to enhance trauma care delivery, program growth, and compliance with ACS Level II standards.
  • Program Management & Coordination: Oversees the daily operations of the trauma program, including trauma registry, performance improvement, education, and injury prevention. Ensures integration of trauma services across departments and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Performance Improvement & Quality Assurance: Leads the trauma performance improvement process, including data collection, analysis, and reporting of trauma indicators. Facilitates case reviews, identifies trends, and implements corrective actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Staff Supervision & Development: Supervises trauma program staff including Trauma Registrar(s), Trauma Services Nurse(s), and other personnel. Provides mentorship, conducts performance evaluations, and ensures staff competency through ongoing education and professional development.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation: Ensures trauma program compliance with ACS-COT standards, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies. Prepares for trauma center verification surveys and maintains documentation required for accreditation.
  • Education & Outreach: Coordinates trauma-related education for clinical staff, EMS providers, and the community. Serves as an instructor/resource for TNCC, ATLS, and other trauma education programs. Promotes injury prevention initiatives and public awareness.
  • Data Management & Registry Oversight: Ensures accurate and timely trauma data entry and reporting. Collaborates with the Trauma Registrar to maintain the trauma registry and utilize data for performance improvement and research.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Participates in budget planning and resource allocation for the trauma program. Advocates for necessary staffing, equipment, and training to support trauma care excellence.
  • Committee Participation & Representation: Actively participates in the Trauma Committee, Trauma Quality Review Committee, and other hospital leadership forums. Represents the trauma program in internal and external meetings, promoting its mission and strategic goals.
  • Change Management & Innovation: Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Encourages staff engagement, knowledge sharing, and adoption of best practices to advance trauma care and program effectiveness.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Performs additional responsibilities as required to support the trauma program and organizational objectives.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing
Certification - Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Emergency Department Experience; 1+ years of Surgical Nursing Experience; 3+ years of Registered Nurse Experience
Education - Masters degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
