Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, has an immediate position available for a Compactor Repair Technician and Fabricator in Anchorage AK. In this position you will do many things, but main duties will include welding, fabricating and compactor repair.

This is a full-time, long-term position with a great company. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and are a self-motivated, hardworking individual with good communication skills, we want to talk to you.

Starting Pay is $25.00 per hour depending on experience.

Schedule is a 4-10 schedule. 6am to 4pm weekends off.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all makes and models of trash compactors and vertical bailers.
  • Perform welding and repair of trash containers, trash compactors, and vertical bailers.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Filling out all paperwork related to service tickets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
  • Provide courteous and professional service.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually, well-lit and ventilated. Sometimes it is necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to meet all pre-employment requirements.
  • 2 plus years' experience diagnosing and repairing compactors, balers, and/or other industrial equipment.
  • 1 plus years' experience in stick and MIG welding.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Ability and willingness for possible travel out of town within the state of AK.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Fabrication experience a plus.
  • Experience as a field technician a plus.
