Description

The senior sleep technologist is to perform and evaluate routine and specialized overnight polysomnograms (PSGs), Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLTs), and ensure patient safety. Major duties include calibrating equipment, attaching sensors to patients, performing bio-calibration, monitoring laboratory equipment, observing patients while they sleep, make decisions to initiate Bi/CPAP titration or other treatment should patients meet lab criteria, and score polysomnographic recordings on request. Occasionally work days to perform MSLTs, infant and pediatric recordings, scoring of records, daytime studies, and other functions as requested by the lab manager. Responsible to work at all UCLA Sleep Lab locations as needed for Laboratory operations.

The sleep technologist reports to the Lab Manager and Supervisor, but may also receive instruction from Medical Director, staff physicians, or other designated personnel. The technologist should follow Laboratory protocols and policies for emergency situations as well as policies and procedures for reporting of non-emergency situations related to facilities, medical record, engineering, etc. The Technologist will work independently within their scope of practice and as a team member to ensure the smooth operation of the Sleep Disorders Center.

Candidates will be placed according to their experience current career ladder level.

Salary Range: $38.57 - 50.93/hr

Senior Salary Range: $40.50 - 53.48/hr

Qualifications
  • Polysomnography experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability to score 30 second epochs is required
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • CPR Certification is required
  • RPSGT certification is required
  • Other licensures/registrations as required by state departments or other licensing/accreditation agencies
  • Experience in sleep recording instrumentation and scoring techniques required.
  • Comfort working with clinical research populations required
  • Prior phlebotomy experience and certification preferred
  • Required to work flexible hours including nights and/or days as patient scheduling indicates
