About the Role

Prolec is seeking a Fleet and Asset Leader to oversee fleet operations and asset management within the Services Business Unit. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of policies and programs related to fleet vehicles, tools, and company assets. The Fleet and Asset Leader ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while optimizing asset utilization, cost efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

This position plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, vendor management, capital projects, and cross-functional coordination to support safe, compliant, and effective fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Asset Management

  • Develop, implement, maintain, track, and audit fleet and asset programs to support scalability, cost efficiency, and compliance.
  • Track, safeguard, and maintain company equipment and assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain Master Fleet List inventory including driver assignments, vehicle specifications, regional data, and other details for transparency and visibility.
  • Develop, maintain, and audit test equipment inspection records, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee Regional Service Center operations and technicians, managing maintenance schedules, inventory control, and costsavings initiatives.
  • Develop performance metrics (KPIs) and monthly reporting for leadership review.
  • On call as needed to support field teams when needing emergency Fleet assistance or guidance

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including DOT and FMCSA regulations:
    • DOT Licensure, registration renewals, and reporting (IFTA/IRP)
    • Vehicle tax registration
    • Compliance with DOT, DVIR, and IFTA requirements
  • Oversee MVR processing and procedures for annual compliance.
  • Ensure all drivers are properly credentialed to operate commercial motor vehicles when applicable.
  • Ensure driver files are current and audit-ready, including essential documentation such as vehicle and fuel card assignments, insurance information, and safety records, reporting to Clearinghouse when needed.

Safety & Training

  • Facilitate necessary driver training and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Ensure safety-related inspections, licensing, and compliance activities are completed on schedule.
  • Initiate and monitor behaviorbased driver safety training aligned with individual risk profiles

Financial & Capital Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for asset-related issues and inquiries.
  • Serve as Project Manager for designated capital expenditure projects, ensuring alignment with budget, timeline, and business objectives.
  • Review and manage fleet leasing, purchasing, and disposal strategies to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Associates degree and minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, degree in logistics is preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and commercial vehicle compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading fleet and asset management programs in a regulated environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate effectively with leadership and field teams.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, and performance reporting.
