Job Description

Pay: $23/hour

Work Schedule: Temporary; 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

This position is eligible for Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST) under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act. All employees may also make pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan - must be 18 years of age to participate.

Please note: This is a temporary position lasting approximately 4 months

JOB SUMMARY:

The Coordinator I, Continuous Improvement (CI) will support our Continuous Improvement team with our organization-wide Continuous Improvement initiative. Our Retail, Donation, Warehousing, and Salvage operations are a vital part of our ability to provide mission services throughout the State of Colorado. The CI Coordinator will be an integral part of the team and will conduct studies, manage small change events and audit actual process performance. Hands-on activity is required for this role, which includes such things as hanging signs, laying floor tape, installing and moving items and similar activities in a variety of work environments. This role works effectively with varied groups of people including individuals with disabilities and disadvantages, management, and employees at all levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Works primarily in warehouse and some retail settings and will assist in answering CI questions and requests from members of management and staff (non-hybrid role).
  • Learn and promote available CI tools, to include production area sketches, checklists, audits, training and results of Kaizen/Six Sigma events and studies.
  • Work closely with CI Team and the Learning and Development team to develop documentation and implement standard work, training, and other work aids.
  • Conducting cycle time analyses, time studies, work balance improvements, workplace analysis and improvement.
  • Following up on action plans.
  • Assisting all teams as needed to ensure improvements are made and sustained.
  • Creating and implementing standard work and teaching/coaching leaders to do the same.
  • Help implement, coach, and maintain visual performance tools.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and studies.
  • Emphasize standard work to gain efficiency in retail and other processing areas.
  • Conduct CI audits and checks to ensure realization of efficiencies.
  • Modifying floor plan layouts in Visio according to CI standards


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate degree in related discipline is preferred.


Experience:



  • A minimum of 1year of recent continuous improvement/process engineering experience, or recent college graduate with an Associate degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Technology.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.


Other:



  • Must be safety and quality driven.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of other computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint; experience with Visio is a plus.
  • Ability to follow established procedures without immediate supervision for various operations.
  • Ability to plan and work around schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to perform record keeping, data collection activities, and to analyze recorded information.
  • Ability to present to small groups.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Preferred Bilingual: Spanish/English.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • This position requires frequent travel to all of Goodwill of Colorado's business units. The incumbent must have reliable transportation.
  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.


*Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:



  • 21 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
  • 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
  • 25 years of age for CDL.
