ABOUT THE POSITION

Structural Designer - Engineer (Bridge and Transportation) | Hybrid

VHB's structural engineering group plays a vital role in enhancing connectivity through infrastructure projects such as complex bridge and interchange designs, rehabilitation and inspection, pedestrian walkways, and transit stations. This diverse range of structural engineering services helps improve mobility for the traveling public.

VHB's dynamic Massachusetts group is looking to add Structural design/engineers to its expanding and innovative team! This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects across the region. Utilize state-of-the-art tools and technologies to design and develop transformative transportation/ infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

    Work on major bridge and other complex transportation projects
  • Provide technical support/mentorship to junior structural engineering staff
  • Perform oversight of engineering design for bridges and other transportation infrastructure
  • Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, estimates and calculation.
  • Perform quality control reviews of project construction documents, engineering reports, etc.

Skills and Attributes

  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
  • Must possess strong project management and technical skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete) and seismic analysis
  • Familiarity with Mathcad and Excel for developing calculations packages.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering software (AASHTOware, LARSA 4D, MDX, midas Bridge, Mathcad, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience in Bridge/Transportation projects required
  • B.S. Civil Engineering (1-2 years may be substituted for a Master's degree)
  • EIT expected, PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.

The full-time annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
