This newly created Junior Data Scientists supports HGA's data science initiatives by analyzing and benchmarking BIM (Building Information Modeling) data and developing predictive analytics for operational and financial use cases. This role focuses on building automated data pipelines for model ingestion, applying advanced analytical techniques, and integrating AI-driven tools to generate actionable insights for the Architecture and Engineering domain.

This position works closely with data engineers, software developers, and analysts to help build a scalable data environment that enables benchmarking, operational analytics, and AI-powered solutions.

In this role you will:

Technical Skills

    Build and deploy data transformation models using dbt and SQL within Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate raw BIM and project data into workflows to generate predictive insights.
  • Design and implement data schemas within the analytical warehouse.
  • Integrate AI tools and machine learning models into existing data workflows.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of data pipelines and analytical models.

Analytical & Design Thinking

  • Apply analytical methods to extract benchmarking metrics from BIM data.
  • Translate benchmarking and operational requirements into scalable analytical solutions.
  • Develop logic for predictive insights on project outcomes and resource utilization.
  • Design data models and analytical approaches that support benchmarking and performance analysis.

Project Delivery

  • Automate BIM data workflows, including model ingestion and processing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring consistency with source systems.
  • Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with data engineers, developers, and analysts.
  • Communicate technical concepts and analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document analytical processes, data workflows, and model architectures.
  • Provide technical support and maintain strong internal customer service.

Professional Practice

  • Implement data quality checks and validation mechanisms.
  • Ensure integrity and reliability of datasets and model outputs.
  • Follow best practices for code quality, version control, and reproducibility.
  • Stay current with industry trends in AI, BIM, and cloud analytics tools.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Up to 2 years of work experience including:
    • Internship or academic experience in data science, software development, or research environments;
    • Hands-on experience with a modern data stack (Python, SQL required); and
    • Exposure to cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure / Fabric).

Additional qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis, data operations, and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation and analysis.
  • Understanding of data modeling, schema design, and analytical warehouses.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices (Git, APIs, CI/CD).
  • Ability to integrate machine learning models into production workflows.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, especially Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for data consistency issues.
  • Ability to optimize performance of data pipelines and analytical models.
  • Effective communication skills for translating complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and prioritization in fast-paced environments.
  • Commitment to internal customer service and collaboration.

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $85,500 - $101,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
