What to Expect
The Tesla Engineering Technician Program (ETP) is an intensive 12-week training initiative at De Anza College, designed to equip students with the technical skills required for a successful career as an Engineering Technician at Tesla. Participants gain in-depth knowledge in reliability testing, high-voltage electrical systems, diagnostics, mechanical fabrication, and safety protocols through a blend of theoretical instruction, hands-on labs, and practical exercises. This non-exempt position offers full pay and benefits as a Tesla Engineering Technician Trainee, with successful graduates transitioning to a full-time Engineering Technician role upon completion.

What You'll Do

Engineering Technician

  • Support reliability validation and testing of components, systems, and vehicles in lab and manufacturing environments
  • Execute environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing using chambers, shaker tables, and other test equipment
  • Perform detailed failure analysis and reporting, including high-quality photography, documentation, and corrective action recommendations
  • Conduct instrumentation setup, data acquisition, sensor calibration, and data visualization for test programs
  • Assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment and fixtures
  • Safely service and diagnose high-voltage electric vehicle systems, adhering to proper deactivation procedures and using HV PPE
  • Perform electrical diagnostics, wire harness repair, soldering, crimping, and PCBA rework on low- and high-voltage systems

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrate basic computer skills, including navigating web browsers and using standard applications like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Have command of the English language, both written and verbal
