The opportunity

The Director of AI and ITS Communications leads strategic communications for SNHU's technology and AI portfolios, ensuring communications are proactive, aligned with institutional priorities, and guide understanding, adoption, and measurable impact. You will develop and execute communication strategies for complex, high-visibility initiatives related to artificial intelligence, information technology, and digital transformation, translating technical concepts into clear, audience-centered messaging for diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Communications, within the Office of External Affairs and Communications, you will be a strategic advisor to AI and ITS leadership, partnering to guide messaging, support change management, and ensure early engagement in planning and decision-making. You will be responsible for communications outcomes for assigned initiatives, leads cross-functional coordination across university teams, and ensures communications are delivered with quality, consistency, and strategic alignment across channels.

You will work 100% remotely from any of our approved states. #LI-Remote

What You'll Do:

  • Be a primary communications advisor to SNHU's Chief AI Officer and Chief Information Officer and their teams.
  • Participate early in planning to shape communications strategy, not only tactics and deliverables.
  • Develop messaging and narrative framing recommendations grounded in goals, audiences, and institutional context.
  • Lead strategy and execution for assigned initiatives, ensuring quality delivery and measurable progress toward outcomes.
  • Develop multifaceted communications plans, important messaging, partner engagement approaches, and timeline management.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to execute integrated plans.
  • Lead communications for complex internal and external initiatives (e.g., program launches, operational changes, cross-functional projects).
  • Support portfolio-level prioritization discussions; surfaces trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and resource needs.
  • Apply OEAC (Office of External Affairs and Communications) processes and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure projects move through OEAC (Office of External Affairs and Communications) workflows, maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Help partners determine high-value communication priorities.
  • Measure communications effectiveness using data, engagement, and feedback; recommend improvements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience advising leaders and functional partners, facilitating productive conversations and influencing decisions aligned with strategic goals.
  • Experience being a subject matter expert and fluency in IT and AI communications and communications strategy development, narrative framing, and multi-channel planning for complex programs.
  • Experience with Internal and external strategic communications planning and execution; change management, including messaging and narrative development.
  • Experience advising leaders and managing complex communications projects.
  • Experience in higher education or complex organizational settings.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $77,794.00 - $124,491.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $85,961.00 - $116,299.00.
