Industry: PE-backed Hospitality Company Role: Controller Salary: $185,000 - $225,000/annually Location: New York City (Hybrid - 3 days a week onsite) About the role: Our client, a private-equity backed portfolio company, is hiring a Controller to take full ownership of financial accounting and reporting while building and leading a lean, high?performing accounting team. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, partners with key stakeholders, delivers strong and accurate GAAP financial reporting, drives process improvements, and works closely with the private-equity firm. Must have a CPA and mix of public and private with proven controllership experience at a private equity portfolio company. Key Responsibilities Direct all core accounting activities and supervise the daily execution of financial operations Lead, develop, and coach a small but impactful accounting team Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, contributing financial insight to business decisions Ensure accurate, compliant financial statements prepared under GAAP, supported by disciplined internal controls Elevate financial deliverables for management, the Board, and external stakeholders Modernize workflows by redesigning processes and selectively leveraging automation and AI tools Collaborate closely with FP&A on planning cycles, forecast updates, long?range modeling, and capital allocation initiatives Monitor liquidity, cash flow, and working capital performance Manage relationships and reporting obligations related to debt facilities and lenders Operate effectively in an evolving environment that requires speed, flexibility, and sound judgment Ideal Background Certified Public Accountant or comparable professional experience with strong GAAP expertise Proven Controller experience (minimum three years) in a company of comparable scale and complexity Prior work within private equity-owned businesses; comfortable with intensity, accountability, and pace Clear, confident communicator with credibility in executive and board?level settings Highly hands?on, detail?driven leader who engages directly in the work Natural process thinker who understands how emerging technologies, including AI, can improve finance operations Strong systems and tools capability: deep ERP experience (NetSuite preferred), advanced Excel skills, and polished presentation abilities Intellectually curious, proactive, and energized by problem?solving Demonstrates exceptional commitment and personal ownership Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
