Job Scope

The Senior Field Service Engineerwill provide service / support to customers, FSE's and other DiaSorin personnel with regards to installation, repair, preventive maintenance, retrofit installation, troubleshooting. This position will partner with or support other engineers in escalated situations. This position will serve as a back-up for their manager or supervisor in their absence or at their request. Teach others how to achieve high customer satisfaction levels. Lead by example on and off site.

Key Duties and Responsibilities



  • Service and Support to Internal and External Customers - Provide Service and Support to Internal and External Customers with regards to instrument installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Receive information from technical service and logistics teams concerning customer instrumentation
  • Maintain customer, applications, and sales communication
  • Perform Instrument Installations
  • Perform Instrument Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform Instrument Retrofit Installation
  • Resolve Instrument Problems by Troubleshooting the Specific Problem (Hardware or Software) and Repairing
  • Assist Product Support with Assay Troubleshooting
  • Provide Advanced Escalation Support
  • Complete Service Reports according to process and file appropriately
  • Manage and Maintain Adequate Stock
  • Perform and document installation and operational qualification of all new instruments for the Instrumentation group
  • Read and Understand the TB/TN and GOP procedures required for GMP compliance of new instruments
  • Perform other assignments as required for effective support of field systems and activities at customer sites(s)
  • Proactively plan activity and manage service coverage to maximize personnel and team productivity
  • Maintain Good Work Habits
  • Follow DiaSorin established compliance procedures designed to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met; activities may include audits, documentation, and the understanding of the requirements of agencies such as OSHA, EPA, NRC, and FDA
  • Understand and apply the appropriate procedures pertaining to the work being performedTimecards completed daily

  • Expense Reports Completed WeeklyTimely and Accurate Return of Used Spare Parts
  • On-Time Completion of all Smart Training and Technical Requirements
  • Prompt Response to all forms of communication from headquarters, customers, and co-workers
  • Manage and Maintain Assigned Company Assets (i.e. parts inventory, tools, communication and computing devices, vehicles)
  • Safety - Perform work in a safe manner consistent with DiaSorin's health, safety, and environmental policies and assume responsibility for personal safety and that of co-workers to result in a safe work environment for all employees and the protection of the environment and the community at large
  • Follow DiaSorin's established procedures for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous, radioactive, laser sources and infectious materialParticipate in DiaSorin's safety training programs and demonstrated competency in the use of Material Safety Data Sheets, chemical labeling, corporate emergency response procedures, and DiaSorin's health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Be aware of and understand the hazards specific to your work area and follow appropriate safety precautions necessary to control them.
  • Training - Participate in training processes that are designed to develop highly skilled workforce capable of delivering results consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Participate in formal and informal training required to increase skills to meet work expectations
  • Mentor all levels of FSE's as needed
  • Successfully pass annual corporate assessments
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programs
  • Evaluate the Effectiveness of training process and programs
  • Coordinate the delivery of technical information to the team when released and act as a liaison with the LEAD FSE's to obtain additional clarity as needed.
  • Proven ability to consistently meet all competency requirements of the Field Service Engineer III position
  • Stand in for supervisor or manager in their absence
  • Contribute to Service Process Improvement
  • Ability to mentor FSE's and other technical personnel via phone, email and at customer sites on using the proper maintenance, repair and troubleshooting processes to meet customer expectations and manufacturer's specifications
  • Excellent interpersonal / communication skills and the ability to handle multiple activities in a professional manner.
  • Ability to coordinate activities, prepare materials and utilize the right person to conduct training sessions that pertain to the proper maintenance and repair of DiaSorin instrumentation.
  • Ability to present technical information in formal settings, including demonstrations at Conferences, Exhibits, and Customer Sites.Complete Projects as directed.
  • Coordinate Service Call Escalation Process to Avoid Instrument Replacements.
  • Knowledge and Skill in installing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibration, and maintaining medical diagnostic or clinical laboratory instrumentation
  • Knowledge and Understanding of electronics, medical terminology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Knowledge and Understanding of basic immunology and immunoassay technology.
  • Ability to do preventative maintenance and troubleshooting with reference to manufacturer's manual.
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain correct operation of equipment.
  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)



Education, Experience, and Qualifications



  • Laboratory Technician, AA Electronics, Engineering Technician or Equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 Years as a Field Service Technician, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a DiaSorin engineer or related experience.
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • Must be able to meet all working conditions.
  • Must have the ability to manage travel, expenses, and reimbursements.
