JOB SUMMARY: The Rock Pitcher is responsible for rock pitching granite memorials and structural materials, including the operation of appropriate saws to prepare stones for the rock pitching process. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Operate overhead crane and lifting devices to move unfinished and finished product and turn stones as needed. Inspect stone for cracks and seams prior to and during the pitching process to meet quality standards. Read production tickets to understand customer requirements. Layout stone per production ticket specifications, ensuring the maximum yield possible. Operate Diamond Saw 71 and 141/(4) corner saw to cut stone in preparation of the rock pitching process. Apply working knowledge of stone tolerance to ensure appropriate cutting and pitching process will be utilized to finish the stone. Hand-cut edges and heads of stone (rock pitch) by using various size chisels and a 3-pound or 5-pound hammer to shape the stone. Drill holes in stone as needed with hammer drill. Operate slant splitter and skill saw to cut and separate granite materials to required sizes. Scan production tickets to log completed work into the JDE system. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have good hand-eye coordination. Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production. Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency. Mechanically inclined. General math skills. Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings. Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric. Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
