Our Finance team is responsible for ensuring accurate financial operations and plays a crucial role in managing the Firm's financial health. Our team handles a wide range of financial activities including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, partner compensation, payroll, treasury and cash flow management to support the Firm's strategic goals. We are responsible for inventory management including billing and collections, and analysis of client, matter and timekeeper profitability. We oversee statutory accounting and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. The Finance team also prepares financial statements, reports and analysis to provide insights into the Firm's financial performance. We work closely with other functions to monitor expenses, optimize financial processes and implement cost-saving initiatives. Through meticulous financial management and strategic planning, the Finance team ensures the Firm's financial stability and supports its growth objectives.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Tax, plays a critical leadership role within the Firm's Tax Team, providing technical expertise and strategic guidance in a rapidly evolving tax landscape. This position is responsible for managing complex tax projects, ensuring compliance with US and international partnership tax regimes, and supporting the Firm's strategic objectives. The Senior Manager will serve as a key contact for Firm leadership and partners, providing support on tax issues and regulatory changes. In addition, this role will mentor and develop team members, helping to build the Tax Team's capacity and expertise to meet current and future challenges. The ideal candidate will bring US partnership tax experience, strong project management skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving, positioning the Tax Team for continued success and leadership in the industry.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Provide technical guidance on US partnership tax matters.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for complex tax issues impacting the Firm and its partners.
  • Interpret and communicate the implications of new tax legislation and regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and oversee special tax projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion in alignment with Firm objectives.
  • Allocate resources and manage project priorities to address the most critical compliance and strategic needs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external advisors to deliver project outcomes.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks associated with new regimes and complex transactions.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of tax filings, disclosures, and documentation to maintain audit readiness.
  • Mentor and develop tax team members, fostering technical growth and leadership skills.
  • Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions on complex tax topics and regulatory changes.
  • Support succession planning by identifying and nurturing future leaders within the team.
  • Act as a key liaison between the Tax Team, Firm leadership, and external advisors on partnership tax matters.
  • Communicate complex tax concepts and project updates clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advise on the tax implications of Firm initiatives, transactions, and business strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Firm's overall tax strategy.
  • Monitor industry trends and proactively recommend actions to maintain the Firm's competitive and compliant position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., JD, LLM, MST, or MBA) preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in US partnership tax, preferably within a professional services firm, law firm, or Big Four accounting firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of US partnership tax rules; knowledge of international tax regimes (including Pillar 2), and current tax developments affecting partnerships and professional services firms preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering practical solutions to complex tax issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience engaging with senior leadership, external advisors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Team player

  • Knowledge of Alteryx preferred but not a must (will train)

Salary Range:
$174,000 - $239,800
