Summary:

The Mental Health Technician/Program Specialist I will work in Cook Children's psychiatric unit. In this role you will provide direct, compassionate care to young patients, supports treatment plans, and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment. You'll serve as primary caregiver for patients ages Pre-K through adolescent, supporting daily living activities, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, and helping children manage challenging behaviors. You'll also take part in crisis intervention, teaching, group process, and on-call rotations as needed. Our ideal candidate will have a solid work history; experience working with at-risk children and a behavioral health background. Required certifications (CPI Crisis Intervention, Heartsaver CPR, CSC SCM) are provided through paid training within your first 60 days.

Hours: 24 hours per week - offers flexible 4-, 8-, or 12-hour shifts between 6:30am-11pm. Will require some weekend and holiday coverage.

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience working with children 3 - 12yrs old preferred.

  • Any experience working in behavioral health or psychiatry preferred.

  • CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - Units 1-7 & 9-10 plus the CPI Children's Control Position from Unit 8 or must be completed within 60 days of start date.

  • Heartsaver CPR within 60 days of start date.

  • CSC SCM training must be completed within 60 days of start date.
